Historique :	Ce tableau du 19e siècle s'inspire du quattrocento italien et rappelle également l'esprit de Claude Vignon.

Précision_sur la representation :	La Vierge se tient assise devant un pupitre où l'on voit posé son livre de prières, encore ouvert. Elle reçoit avec dignité le message de l'ange prosterné devant elle. Seule sa main gauche posée sur sa poitrine témoigne de sa surprise. Son visage est rond, encadré par deux bandeaux de cheveux bruns. Elle porte une longue robe rouge et se drape dans un manteau brun. Un bouquet de fleurs la sépare de l'ange. Celui-ci est représenté dans un style 'quattrocento', il est vêtu d'une tunique richement brodée d'or. Son visage très stylisé est assez féminin. Le fond du tableau est sombre, peuplé d'angelots dans les nuées, qui s'ouvrent sur la colombe du Saint Esprit.
